You customers are clever people, they know what they want and they know they have a choice. Customers want WiFi and the quicker you can offer it in a legal and safe manner, the quicker you can increase your bottom line.
Venue providers often overlook how providing free WiFi can increase their profit, as they can’t see an immediate new sales stream, so we have put together a simple formula based on our clients data.
Let’s take a campsite with 150 pitches. We know that by offering a paid WiFi service, around 9% of pitches will take at least a 1 day access card. Assuming a low charge of £6.00 per day, that’s 15 sales, or £90 – equating to £4680 over the course of a year. Easy for a paid service to see where the revenue comes in.
Let’s also look at a static caravan park, where you can purchase vans, and rent them for the holidays. A 500 pitch static site, with around 200 owner vans could be making around £25,000 – £40,000 per year – not bad for an outlay of around £2-3000.
But what of those venues that offer free WiFi? Well, lets say you run the same 150 pitch campsite, but don’t charge for internet access? Given the choice, when booking a camp site, people look for those with the best facilities in their chosen area so you could expect to see an increase in bookings for your site – Let’s assume one extra booking per week, at a cost of £100.00 per pitch per week. 30 weeks extra bookings over the year = £3,000.
Paid or free access, your customers want WiFi and internet services, and by providing them with what they want you will increase your turnover and increase your customers satisfaction. Just what every campsite wants – happy campers!
