Earlier this month we installed the main infrastructure for a new development up at John O’Groats, Scotland. We’ve been back up there recently, finishing of the installation now that the site is ready.
Utilising no less than 60 access points, 3 x 3×3 dual Mimo radio Access points for 900MB backhaul , plus 23 Point to Point links, the system provides each luxury lodge with internet access for Ipads, Computers and customer devices, whilst also providing bandwidth to the installed Apple TV and Sony Smart TV.
The WiFi network delivers ping responses of circa 0.7ms , comparable with Fibre, but came in some £80,000 less than an equivalent fibre installation.
There is also a public WiFi solution covering the main tourist area’s providing free wifi for general public,media and charity events.
